Invisalign

Invisalign is a orthodontic treatment system that works to straighten teeth through the use of a series of clear plastic molds (aligners). Invisalign braces eliminate the metallic smile that is characteristic of traditional orthodontic braces.

To ensure the best outcome, your dentist will use computer imaging to create your invisalign braces. After taking bite impressions of your mouth, the dentist will use the invisalign three-dimensional computer imaging system to create a series of clear retainers or aligners. The first one will fit your current configuration of teeth. Each successive aligner will act like invisible braces, using gentle pressure to move your teeth to their target alignments. Each aligner must be worn in its specific order for about two weeks, during which time it moves the teeth in small increments of about .25 millimeters to .33 millimeters. Although the aligners are removable (for eating, drinking certain beverages, and brushing/flossing), they must be worn at least 20 hours a day in order to reposition the teeth successfully.

The cost of invisalign is comparable to that of traditional braces. A typical invisalign treatment requires 20 to 30 aligners for both the upper and lower teeth. Most adults complete their treatment in less than one year. However, treatment time depends on the specific alignment problem.
